Overview
Leh is one of the largest town of Ladakh region which is situated at a crossroads of the old trading routes from Tibet and Kashmir. . It is still an urbane hub that it has been for centuries. But radically new way, earlier it was the hub of traders, missionaries and nomads who once mingled in the Leh bazaar. Today it welcomes backpackers, holiday makers, adventure and mountain lovers, photographers, trekkers and ecologists.
The town is known for Leh Palace, which was built by on Tsemo Hill, built Sengge Namgyal in 1553 and Namgyal Tsemo Monastery, a Buddhist monastery, built by Tashi Namgyal in 1430. Itinerary
Day 1: Delhi - Leh (Arrival)
Arrive at the Delhi airport and board flight for Leh. Upon reaching Leh, meet our representative, get transferred to the hotel. This beautiful place located on the very high altitude, hence if you arrived Leh by air from plans then you need some time to acclimatizing to the lower oxygen level at these heights before attempting anything strenuous. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 2: Leh Sightseeing
Post breakfast in the morning, embark on a full day sightseeing tour of Leh which include Shey monastery, famous for A 12 meter high copper statue of Gautam Buddha which is gold plated and covers three stories in the building is the main attraction of this Palace.
Later, proceed to Thiksey, one of the largest monasteries in Ladakh. Last but not the least, you’ll have to visit Hemis Monastery, Tibetan monastery is the one of the biggest in Ladakh which is located approximately 45 kilometers from Ladakh. The existence of this monastery was before 11th century but it was rebuilt 1672. The honour of Lord Padmasambhava. Return to the hotel at late evening. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 3: Leh Sightseeing
After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour to the Stok Palace, The Namagyal royal family of Ladakh has been living in the Stok Palace since they were ousted by Jammu;s Genralk Zarawar Singh. The palace also houses of a museum, the only part of complex that is open for tourists and Matho monastery, known for its 17th century ornaments, paintings and Oracle Festival. Later, halt in SOS Tibetan Children Village. Later transfer to the hotel for Dinner and night stay.
Day 4: Leh Sightseeing
Post breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Leh which include visits to Spituk, Chemdry, Takthok and Chemdry monasteries. Thereafter, head straight to Shankar Gompa housed with various gold statues and exquisite paintings followed by Leh Palace, Leh Palace I located the old town sits in the shadow of a hill. This 19 stories high Leh Palace was constructed in 1553 AD and it was the one of the highest building of the world. Later, proceed to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Leh – Departure
